When Oliver joined Cecil Jones Academy at the beginning of year 7 last year he was struggling with the transition to secondary school. He was a shy student who lacked confidence, but wanted to do his absolute best.
Oliver slowly but surely took everything on board from the staff at Cecil Jones and the progress began to show. His attitude to learning and effort in class and on homework tasks is exemplary. By the end of the last academic year (year 8 for Oliver) his confidence and self-esteem had flourished. He was able to complete office duties, including walking into classrooms to deliver messages and communicate with staff and students around the academy. The biggest indicator of his success was receiving subject awards and going on stage during the celebration assemblies to collect them. Oliver now enjoys coming to school and plays an active role as a member of the academy.
