Armistice Day

On Wednesday 11th November, Cecil Jones Academy held a whole school two minute silence in remembrance of Armistice Day.

During this time, the Headteacher, Miss Haken, SENCo, and Mrs Smith, our KS3 Art Coordinator and her tutor group, 7O, took part in a remembrance ceremony at the front of the school grounds.

Mrs Smith and the students from 7O have put together a beautiful art installation to commemorate Armistice Day. A wreath was laid and students and staff took part in the act of silence. One member of staff,  Miss Lunn stated “ I visited the poppies at the Tower of London and I found this just as powerful.”

This is the same group of students who have had their poppies displayed in the terminal at London Southend Airport and recognised in the online Echo newspaper.
