Making an application to the Sixth Form at Cecil Jones Academy is the first and best step on your journey beyond year 11.

Applicants will need to select three subjects from the option blocks shown below.

Subjects that are in the same block are timetabled at the same time so cannot be taken together.

Entry Requirements

3 A Levels FIVE GCSE Grades 9 – 4
Including English and Mathematics
3 A Levels with an AS Level
(AS carried forward to full A Level if successful)		 Grades 9 – 7 in all GCSE subjects

A Level Mathematics Grade 6 in GCSE Mathematics

Cecil Jones Academy SIXTH FORM RECRUITING INFORMATION (FOR 2024)

The key dates for the 2023/24 admissions process are:

  • November 2023 – Application Forms will be made available to all pupils.
  • February 2024 – Interviews – Internal Candidates
  • Friday 9th February 2024 - 6th form application deadline

Each student will have an interview with one of the Sixth Form team to look at their subject choices and combinations. Their reports and tracking data will be looked at to see if they are likely to achieve the grades needed for the subject(s) they have chosen.

  • March 2024 – Interviews – External Candidates

Each student will have an interview with one of the Sixth Form team to look at their subject choices and combinations. Their reports and tracking data will be looked at to see if they are likely to achieve the grades needed for the subject(s) they have chosen.

  • April/June 2024 – Offer

Students will receive a letter confirming that you have a place subject to you gaining the necessary grades for their chosen course. It is vital that they are working hard so that they achieve the grades they have been predicted.

  • July 2024 – Year 12 Induction

Students will be invited to attend a induction period into year 12 where they can attend taster sessions, meet other students and teachers ahead of making their course choices.

  • August 2024 – Final Interview & Confirmation

Students will come to school to collect their GCSE results and they will have a personal interview to review their results and confirm their place at Cecil Jones Academy. This will be on the same day or the day after they receive their results.

  • September 2024

Year 12 will start with morning of Induction which will give them the opportunity to get to know their new tutor group and to start gaining the skills they will need to be successful.
