Students from Cecil Jones Academy are celebrating a remarkable achievement after their glee group qualified for the England Finals of the prestigious Jack Petchey Glee Club Challenge.

The talented group secured their place in the national finals after finishing in the top three at the recent regional competition held at Epsom Playhouse, impressing judges with their performance and stage presence. The competition featured strong entries from schools and performing arts groups across the region, making the achievement even more significant.

The Jack Petchey Glee Club Challenge is one of the country’s most respected youth singing competitions, bringing together school choirs and vocal groups from across England. By reaching the national finals, the Cecil Jones Academy glee group will now perform in the Shaftesbury Theatre, Westend, alongside some of the most prestigious schools and performing arts organisations in the country.

For the students and staff involved, the milestone marks a proud moment for the school and highlights the strength of its performing arts programme.

“This is a huge achievement for our glee group,” Mrs Compton said. “To reach the England finals and perform alongside some of the best young vocal groups in the country is an incredible opportunity for our students. We are so excited to perform on a Westend stage and we can’t wait for ur celebrity mentors to be revealed.’

The success has also helped put Cecil Jones Academy firmly on the map for performing arts, showcasing the dedication, hard work and talent of its students.

The school community has expressed immense pride in the group’s accomplishment and is now looking ahead with excitement as the students prepare to represent their school at the national finals. We are so grateful to the parents and staff who have supported the group and purchased a ticket for the final.

With the England Finals on the horizon, the glee group will continue rehearsing and refining their performance as they aim to make Cecil Jones Academy proud on the national stage.
