Year 8 Art Work

Back
March 10th 2023

What artistic talent in Year 8! Students are applying their knowledge and understanding of reductive printing to produce skilful outcomes!

The process, illustrated here by Grace Burman and Charlie Jones, involves two-stages: etch into your polyboard (a type of intaglio printmaking) to create line designs (inspired by kente cloth in West African fabric); apply ink with a brayer to print; and finally, reduce the design down on the polyboard and repeat the process to reveal a two-colour print! The focus and accuracy to perfectly line up their prints is a challenging feat in itself, but students were not put-out: the results are outstanding!

Pupils will be able to create a three-colour reductive print the in their upcoming lesson. What fabulous engagement and thoughtful understanding of this printmaking technique. Well done Year 8 artists!
