Ex-student delivers a Police careers event.

Police Assembly with PC Jack Darke Tuesday 21st March 2023

We were delighted to welcome a former student and head boy back to Cecil Jones to deliver an assembly to talk about his career so far as an officer in the Essex Police Force.

Jack spoke a little about himself, his life at Cecil Jones, how he became a police officer and some of his experiences and situations he has had to deal with on the job. Despite only becoming a police officer a year ago, he had lots of stories which kept his audience captivated. He then went on to show the students the different avenues they could take to join the force, the different qualifications required, what they could expect and how long each path would take to complete.

There were almost 90 students in attendance and every one of them listened intently to what he was saying. At the end of the assembly Jack opened the floor for a Q and A session which produced the most productive questioning from any workshop or assembly we have organised. The students asked some very interesting and imaginative questions to which Jack gave some honest and interesting answers. When the session ended, which appeared to be far too early, the students gave him an overwhelming round of applause to show their appreciation. There was even time to handcuff one of our students before he left.
